In November 2021, my best friend turned 50. His brilliant wife planned a little getaway and I was lucky enough to join them. The catamaran chartered was the Bella Maggio. We considered, briefly, trying our hands at sailing the vessel on our own. Cooler heads prevailed and the choice was made to bring a skipper and 1st mate.

Although the first night was a bit rainy, the skies cleared and our trip became a series of relaxing cruising under sail, motoring into scenic island waters and evening at anchor with a constant and steady breeze blowing.

Throwing a line overboard and letting it ride out behind us rewarded us with fresh catch, and that we quickly turned into a ceviche or baked for dinner. Simply fabulous.

Dolphins and breezes, sunsets and sunrises over water, were the distinct pleasures of the trip. Leaving your inside port berth portlight (sealable window) open while underway... well, let's say those results not so pleasurable.
